This is a great team! Unfortunately their record did not reflect their ability, finishing 7-9-2 (3-5-2 conference). The season ended without a trip to the BigTen tournament. Although I am physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted from wedding planning, work and soccer travel, I still really wanted to make one more trip to the tournament.
Let’s do it next year girls!
Chris and I had a great time traveling to nearly all of Reagan’s games this fall. We certainly feel blessed that we were able to cheer on the team as well as see so many friends while on the road. I have another post about that. I don’t think I will ever regret making time for my girls. One thing we learned through the Rona debacle is this could end anytime without warning... gotta go while we can!
Reagan ended the season with 7 goals and 3 assists which placed her 9th in goal scorers in the BIG TEN and lead to her earning a spot on the BIG TEN 3rd team. What a great honor to be recognized as one of 33 top players in the conference. Reagan spent her freshman year playing forward with 2 other freshmen. This year due to some team injuries she had to spend about half her playing time as a midfielder. There are some who would complain but not Reagan, she went out there and did her job. We are proud of her hard work, passion for the game and leadership. God has been good to our girl!
Below are games from this season in reverse order, starting with the last game on October 24, 2021. I know, it doesn’t make sense but I don’t want to cut and paste everything. My girl is the super blonde fireball wearing number 7.

This game gets 2 pictures, one of Reagan getting punched in the face which she didn’t remember but had a bruised cheek after the game and the other picture shows the newly weds the day after the wedding
Iowa 4-3 L

Our most frustrating loss. We had a 3-0 lead before half time
Michigan 3-2 L

Northwestern 2-1 L

Lightening sent the game indoors so fans saw only the 1st half of the game. Shannon and I drove to Chicago, spent the night in a hotel just to watch 1/2 a game and drive back home. ($26 in tolls) Why didn’t I take a picture? Northwestern is a BEAUTIFUL campus right on the edge of Lake Michigan.

Rutgers and Maryland were outside our travel plans but we got together with other soccer parents to watch our girls on BTN+

Oklahoma 1-0 L

Devastating loss in the last 30 seconds after the ref doesn’t call a handball which would have prevented the OU goal.
Mizzou 5-0 W
8-22-21
Played 61 min . 1 goal . 1 assist
Western Illinois 3-0 W
8-19-21

Here is one of Reagan’s signature moves, kicking the ball between the defenders legs, “nutmeg” and then she runs around the player and goes to goal.
North Dakota 8-0 W
8-13-21
Played 46 min . 1 goal
I love seeing the girls celebrate a goal
