Husker Soccer 2021

It feels like we have been talking about this girl playing college soccer FOREVER!! Her first college visit was her freshman year of high school in August of 2016. Here we are four and a half years later, finally this past weekend she hit the collegiate soccer field with the Nebraska Huskers.
Bus ride to Minnesota in a mask
You should see the schedule the athletes have on travel and game days. This is not easy stuff.

Dressed and ready to go with her roommate Gwen

Kick off
THIS KID IS STARTING!!!

Reagan graduated from high school early so she could be ready to play soccer in the fall of 2020. (The normal college soccer season is played in the fall)
Then covid...
Even though she has been at college for a full year the BIG TEN is just now letting these girls play their first games. Yay!!!
But no fans. Boo!!
Chris and I had planned on traveling to Minnesota, Michigan St, Ohio St and Illinois. Instead we are (saving money and) watching the Huskers play on BTN+
Hoping and praying that once games are outside we will be able to attend.

Watch Party!!! Family!!! Food!!! Soccer!!!
We got messages from so many friends and family who watched or listened to the game.
The support is amazing!
Emma dressed up Moo and then watched at a local sports bar with Kaylee

Even the Iowa family cheered for Reagan and the Huskers!

I made my own shirt too
Reagan started both halves and the first OT. She played a total of 67 minutes with one shot on goal. The game ended in a 0-0 tie in OT. I was so proud of our #7. She was super nervous but played like a pro. (Remember I’m the mom aka biggest fan ever!) She had some amazing side tackles and seemed to play a lot of defense even though she is a forward. The team probably learned a lot and this week’s game in Michigan may look a lot different.

Seeing Reagan achieve her goal of playing D1 soccer at a power 5 school brings this mama to tears. I continue to pray for our girl to use her talents and gifts to serve the Lord with whatever platform He provides.

Twenty-Two

HAPPY
BIRTHDAY
Sweet Emma

How is it possible that I can’t remember where I put my keys or why I walked into the other room but I can look at Emma’s baby picture and remember that day, that outfit and the precious little person she was?

I just love this kid so much. It seems ridiculous to state the obvious but I continue to learn from my girls that some of their friends don’t hear that message from their moms. So moms out there...shout it from the mountain top. Most importantly, tell your kids face to face that you love them. They need to hear it!

Emma is spending this semester working full time at a bank in Kearney with plans to save some money and go back to school this summer. Her plans include graduating with a bachelor’s degree from UNK in May 2022. Emma has been part of Gamma Phi Beta, attended class full time, had a great social life, drank lots of coffee, given campus tours, been part of college ministry leadership and worked all the way through college.

Why are we so blessed to be this girl’s parents?

Fresh Clean Start

When a person wants to do a makeover it’s always wise to take before and after photos. I didn’t think of that. Dang!!

If I would have taken pictures with purpose the lighting would have been the same and color comparison would have been great. Basically we went from a Benjamin Moore Alexandria Beige to a warm gray color that would lighten up the house and still allow for my brown furniture. I love it.

I would love to update some of my decor and furnishings but I was told I have a budget of ZERO. As you can see my hubby is better at saving money than I am. I am slowly repurposing items.
Check this out...
